Baden-Powell and Aides to Scouting
"For many years I have been a Baden-Powell reenactor. Together with colleagues, we are working on a podcast in which B-P will try to give encouragement and support to Scouting all over the world.
At the World Jamboree in 2019 in West Virginia, I stepped into the role of B-P (a role I shared with another Scouter). We worked with other staffers to man the Bechtel Scout Reservation’s own little Brownsea Island—a recreation of the world’s first experimental scout camp. 38,000 Scouts from 189 different countries gathered there.
When 'being' Baden-Powell, I try to insist on being called him and on using an English accent of the type I think he used, having listened closely to his old recordings. It is an honor to preserve the history of a movement that has shaped the character of so many."
