The Chandler Sectional River Boat (CSRB)

An Entirely New Type of Boat Walker Chandler is not a naval architect, an engineer, or a boat builder, but that has not deterred him from designing a new type of boat—or rather, a multi-part boat system. He claims it is “equivalent to the pickup truck of flat water.”

Originally from Atlanta, he is a country attorney with a canoeing background enhanced by his years as a Boy Scout and his adventures on Georgia’s rivers—all of which led to his designing a true, sleep-aboard camping canoe. Although not a draftsman by trade, over a period of thirty years he drew countless sketches of the sort of boat he thought might serve the purpose: one small and light enough for car-top transport, flat of bottom, and one which could be paddled, rowed, sailed, or motored and carry aboard the roof and side curtains necessary for privacy.

The Design It is a sectional and scalable boat. Depending on how many various sections are used, it can be configured as a 14-foot camping boat, a barge, a floating moveable platform, a multi-seat row boat, a sailboat, or a solar-powered boat. Each part has a universal bulkhead that prevents water in one section from entering adjacent sections. As each bulkhead is perfectly flat, the parts can be stood upon their ends for storage in garages.

Although not a patent attorney, the designer filed his own vessel hull copyright as well as a patent application—which was granted. The CSRB is designed to be a boat like no other. Inquiries regarding production or partnership may be directed to Mr. Chandler via the contact page.

Elliott Coker

Elliott Coker: Co-Host & Producer

Elliott Coker is an Eagle Scout, media producer, and lifelong resident of the region southeast of Atlanta, Georgia. As the co-host of the Aides to Scouting podcast alongside Walker Chandler, Elliott helps pull back the curtain on the Scouting movement. Through his interviews with national Scouting executives, museum curators, and trail experts, he explores the logistics of leadership, the preservation of Scouting history, and the future of the organization.

A Lifelong Scout

Scouting has been a foundational thread in Elliott’s life. He spent the vast majority of his childhood deeply involved in the program, culminating in earning his Eagle Scout rank in December of 2015. His dedication to outdoor leadership and education continues to this day; he and his partner recently completed their Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) training to further hone their trail expertise.

Creative Roots & Sidewalk Chalk Studios

Beyond the campsite, Elliott is a creative powerhouse with a deep love for music—whether he is strumming a guitar, playing the drums, or singing. After graduating from high school in May 2016 and subsequently working in a family-owned business, his journey eventually led him to the world of digital media and audio production.

In 2023, Elliott and the light of his life, Melody, launched Sidewalk Chalk Studios. Operating with the professional motto "We Make You Stand Out," the studio serves as the official production home for the Aides to Scouting podcast. Whether he is behind the microphone or managing the technical side of the studio, Elliott blends his audio-visual expertise with his commitment to preserving and sharing the stories that shape the Scouting community.
