“Sic transit gloria mundi”

I just saw this  quote that made me think of sharing it with all of y'all.  It reminds us not only of Carnegie--who Buck greatly admired and urged us to read--but also of how I should criticize  less and praise more:

Let us praise even the slightest improvement. That inspires the other person to keep on improving.

— Dale Carnegie

And speaking of praise,  Tommy recently gave me a small painting our niece Julie Lawing made of a Scottish scene she saw when visiting Chandler Lawing in Scotland.  And it is praiseworthy.   I showed it to friends in the Burns Club on the night Tommy gave it to me and they instantly recognized it as being of Bau Rock on the North Berwick  coast of Scotland.  It is attached.:

I am tempted to name all the artists who are on this list, but might overlook one.  I will, though, once again say how Winnie's paintings grace many a place of honor and bring joy to those who study them.

This morning I am thinking, too, of our  praiseworthy Gloria Powell Coppinger  who went on to join her Harold at the age of 96  and whose memorial service  is today  in Bainbridge.   Such fond  memories of them!  Oscar Wilde said One should either wear a work of art or be a work of art.   In many ways,  those who knew them will agree with me that  in their ways Harold & Gloria  were works  of art.

Sic transit gloria mundi.
